Part 1: the written test, one topic at a time

Practise multiple-choice questions organised by subject, see why each option is right or wrong, and revisit your mistakes until they stop happening.

About the written test

The RTR(A) — Radio Telephony (Restricted) licence for aeronautical mobile service — is required to operate aircraft radio in India. The examination has a written part and a practical (radio telephony) part. According to public reports, the DGCA took over conduct of the examination from the Department of Telecommunications from November 2025.

A DGCA draft CAR circulated in September 2025 was publicly reported to set the written test at 50 multiple-choice questions with a 70% pass mark. We use these figures for our full mock, and we label them as reported, not verified. Check the current DGCA notice on the official website before your exam for the format, fees, eligibility and schedule that apply to you.
